THE JURISDICTION Located at the southern most tip of the Bahamian Archipelago, the TCI is a politically, economically and socially stable Colony of the United Kingdom. Only six of the TCI's more than forty islands and cays are inhabited. The most populace island, Providenciales, is also the commercial and tourist center of the TCI. The historic island of Grand Turk, is our nation's capital and the seat of the local government. The TCI offers a broad range of financial services covering banking, insurance, trusts, company formation and management, partnerships and investment funds as well as the registration of ships, patents and trademarks. INVESTMENT INCENTIVES The Government of the TCI under the provisions of the Encouragement of Development Ordinance, may provide incentives for the establishment of new enterprises or the expansion of existing ones which are considered to have a beneficial effect on the economy of, and employment in the TCI. This Ordinance gives the Governor the authority to grant relief from duties and fees principally on, but not limited to, the import of construction material.
