Companies
The Exempted Company or International Business Company (IBC) is the most popular and widely used vehicle in all offshore structures. They are formed under the Companies Ordinance 1981. These companies are exempted from all taxes in the TCI. They may carry on any type of legal business in any part of the world other than the TCI. There is no requirement for the filing of the name or names of officers, directors or shareholders at the Companies Registry or the holding of Annual Meetings. Incorporation can be effected on the same day on which instructions are received. Bank accounts can be opened in the name of the Company with local TCI banks.

Trusts
The Trust, developed over centuries under English common law, plays a very important role in personal tax planning, and asset protection whether for major transactions or simple estate planning.
The TCI's Trust Ordinance, whilst retaining the English common law base, is a very modern piece of legislation designed to make the TCI more attractive putting us ahead of our competitors.
GARDINER & CO. have considerable practical expertise in this area and can assist in the drafting and establishment of fixed and discreationy trusts.
Intellectual Property
GARDINER & CO. provides services in this area with specific emphasis on trademark and patent registrations and the protection of these interests. we act as local agents for a number of international patent and trademark agents.
Ship Registration
The TCI is an ideal port of registry for boats and pleasure crafts up to 150 tons. There are a number of advantages to regisering a vessel in the TCI including :

Real Property
The purchase of real property in the TCI by foreign nationals is unrestricted. Registration of property and the authenticity of title are guaranteed by the Brisitsh Crown and the Government of the TCI. GARDINER & CO. provides services in all types of real estate transactions, from the sale and purchase of individual holdings to representing developers of housing schemes, and condominium and hotel projects. We also act on behalf of mortgagees and handle matters related to leases both residential and commercial.
Business Licensing, Setup and Development
Business Licences are required for all local business, and Work Permits for expatriate staff. In certain circumstances, the TCI Government may offer economic incentive at the outset of an enterprise (eg. by way of reduction or exemption from import duties or granting Permanent Residency Status to certain investors.) GARDINER & CO. can assist in establishing local business and commercial developments as well as provide on going advise as the business grows.
Immigration
Residence Permits (including Permanent Residency Certificates) are readily available for foreign nationals. Naturalization and "Belongership" status may also be obtained after extended residency or substantial investments. GARDINER & CO. can advise on all aspects of Immigrating to the TCI. We are fully conversant with the procedures, practices and requirements of the Immigration Board sufficient to ensure that applications are dealt with speedily and successfully.
